Stains are sweeping America away! The average American parent spends nearly 24 hours a month on cleaning and housework. Some Americans spend hours cleaning stains out of carpets.

But you don’t have to waste your time with stains. You just need to spend a few minutes studying ways of cleaning your carpets.

What are the tools and methods you need to remove stains? When should you use one method over another? When should you turn to the professionals?

Answer these questions and you can have clean carpets for years to come. Here are five methods for cleaning stains out of carpets.

1. Soak up Liquid With Paper Towels

As soon as you spill a liquid on your carpet, you should grab a paper towel or absorbent rag and lay it on the liquid. The towel or rag may soak up the liquid, reducing or preventing stains.

If you spilled food or a lot of liquid, you should use a spoon to scoop the substance into your paper towel. You can also use a dry/wet vacuum.

2. Sprinkle Baking Soda

Baking soda is a good tool if your carpet stains have odors and are small. Sprinkle a spoonful of baking soda onto the spot. Use a soft brush or spoon to form a pile of it.

You should let the baking soda sit for at least 15 minutes, if not 30. You can then vacuum the pile with a clean filter.

3. Mix Detergent With Hot Water

A detergent solution works for most stains, including large and old ones. Take an empty spray bottle and add one-quarter teaspoon of dishwashing liquid to it. Pour in one cup of warm water and shake the bottle to combine the two.

Spray your solution onto a cloth, then dab the cloth on your stain. Take a second cloth and blot the area where the stain is dissolving. Once the stain is gone, you should dab the area with cold water and leave dry paper towels on top.

4. Make a White Vinegar Solution

An aromatic vinegar spray can help when you spill hot coffee or soup on your carpet. After you use a towel to absorb the liquid, you should mix one-half cup of white vinegar with one-half cup of water.

You can mix in a spoonful of essential oil to mask any odor left by the stain. Spray the solution on your stain and use a dry cloth to soak the solution and residue up.

5. Buy Professional Cleaning Products

If your pet leaves poop or urine stains on your carpet, you should buy a carpet cleaner with strong enzymes. Failing to clean these stains properly can cause you or someone else to get sick from the germs your pet left behind.

You should also use professional products to clean blood and ink. If you find keeping your carpet clean to be difficult, you can call a carpet cleaning team for help.

Get Stains Out of Carpets

You can get stains out of carpets in many ways. Soaking a spilled drink with a paper towel may be enough to prevent stains. But if a stain remains, you can use baking soda and a vacuum cleaner.

A detergent solution is effective for stains that are deep inside your carpet. If you need something a little more powerful, you can use white vinegar. You can also try cleaning products you buy at the store.
