When it comes to glue or almost every spill for that matter, it’s always easiest to clean it before it dries.  Remember to act as fast as possible!  This prevents it from settling in or bonding to the service and creating a permanent stain or hardened adhesive.

#1 – DAB.   When the spill happened grab a wet disposable paper towel right away and start dabbing the wet glue to remove as it much as possible.  You may need to use several paper towels during this process to make sure it is well removed.  Make sure your applying pressure to remove the glue deep within the fiber to allow it to absorb into the towel.  If the wetness of the towel seems to be ineffective, then try using white vinegar by agitating and blotting the spot.  It helps to heat the vinegar in a microwave or boiling.  This activates the acidity of the vinegar to help clean the area.

#2- HOT IRON.  If you find the previous method is not working then try this.   Grab a brown paper bag or a wet rag and an iron.  Place the bag or rag on the spot and plug the iron in the outlet.   Adjust the setting to medium on the iron.  Wait one to two minutes then press the iron on the bag or rag and let it sit for a few minutes.  In just a few minutes you should notice the glue liquefying and should notice it transferring to the bag or rag.   You may have to repeat this process several times before getting all the glue out.  This also works for candle wax.  Also with red dye stain removal for drink spills.  Simply apply ammonia (Windex for example) based product and use a the hot iron technique described above.  Then wow!  It’s like a magic eraser.  Your red stain will disappear before your very eye balls!  It’s the bee’s knees and cats pajamas all rolled into one big giant burrito!

#3 – KNIFE.   Another method is to remove by scraping the surface with a knife after it dries.  This takes carful precision because this process can damage the carpet fibers and or even remove them.  Be careful and be cheerful you over the top carpet cleaning person you!

#4 – SCISSORS.    At last resort try using scissors to cut off the carpet fibers covered in glue.   This could remove some of the carpet fibers and create a noticeable patch.  Again be careful with your scissor cutting skills!
