The thought behind writing this blog is to provide you with some of the best and useful tips that will help maintain your carpets.  When you are finished reading this you will have a better idea how to often to vacuum, pet urine removal and why professional carpet cleanings are important for the overall long life of your carpets.  Enjoy!

  1. Vacuuming

You may be wondering why I decided to place vacuuming as the first thing to help maintain your carpets.  The reason is it’s the most important.  Dirt is very damaging to carpet fiber and can cut at the gleam causing outer abrasion that wears out the Cap.  If not vacuum a minimum of two times a week the soil will ruin your carpet very fast.  Also another reason to vacuum often if for allergens and asthmatic reasons.  It is the best air filter in your home but if not vacuumed often it will cause those with allergens and asthmatic issues to suffer.  So again it’s highly recommended to vacuum a minimum of two times a week.

  1. Coffee Removal

First step to every spill is blotting.  Tackle the coffee spill right away!   Don’t let it settle into the fibers and your padding creating a deeper stain.  So start bloting till the towel is saturated, then grab another and another and another and another and repeat this process till no more coffee is transferring to the rag.  Also remember its likely I the pad so press hard and use lots of rags.   If you don’t soak up as much as you can out of the pad then the spot will simply reappear when drying.  Another  good tip is when you are blotting remember do not rub your beautiful carpet.   This will only spread, deepen the stain and worsen.

Then as soon as you have thoroughly blotted the coffee the next step is to create a solution by mixing together 2/3 cup of super-hot water mixed with white distilled vinegar.   Another option is mixing with just 1 magical teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap.   If the coffee contained cream then you have to use an enzyme laundry soap mix with either the white vinegar or dishwashing soap.   Use a towel dabbed in the product or use a spay bottle to apply the product lightly to the spotted area.  Then use a clean dry rag and dab it up.   Then rinse well with some clean water.   Make sure to get all the solution out of your carpet or else it can cause dirt to stick and you will have a dirty spot after a while.

  1. Pet Urine removal

Start by grabbing some paper towels to soak up the pee pee spot.  When you have soaked it up as much as you can then lay something heavy on top of the towels to help absorb as much pee pee as possible.  Then let it saturate for a few minutes.   You may have to replace paper towels when they appear to be soaked.  After you have absorbed most of the moisture then rinse the area with hot water and finish by blotting it up with a paper towel.

After you have completed this process, use a pet odor neutralizer to properly sanitize and clean the area.  If you notice the pee pee has been settling for a while a different approach is required.  Try renting an extractor or wet vac.  It will help by forcing water through the carpet.  I recommend not using chemical cleaners.  They can cause more problems than solving them.  Instead try using some vinegar.

After you have treated the pee pee spot and still see a slight yellow staining you can mist some peroxide to help remove the rest of the stain.  It may take up to 8-12 hours to see the stain completely removed.
