Five Ways to Help Maintain Your Carpets
.VACUUME: Vacuum as often as you can. Dirt has many damaging edges to them, like broken glass. These damaging particles cut away at the fibers you walk on, causing high traffic ware. Over time you will notice your fibers looking grayish and lack in their buoyancy.
.RUGS: Rugs are a great way to help capture dirt. Use them outside your doorways and in front of them. Also place one where you’re noticing damage in high traffic areas.
.NO SHOES: Removing shoes is a great way to help maintain your carpets. It’s less to worry about when it comes to outside particulates making their way in your home.
.STAIN REMOVAL: Whenever you have a stain you always want to tackle it as soon as it happens. If you use a household spotter try applying it to the cloth first. This will help with limiting the amount of residue inserted into your carpet. Start blotting from the outside in, this will help to keep it from spreading. Then rinse with clean water. Continue to repeat both processes until you no longer notice the stain. Make sure not to over saturate so that the stain does not reappear. Try using a folded towel and place a heavy object on top then leave it for the day and allow it to absorb all the moisture and possible stain.
.SHOP-VAC: A shop-vac. is a great way to resolve stain issues. This will allow you to saturate deep into your pad where most of the stain goes. Sometimes if you get to it fast enough all you need is hot water, vinegar and a jug. Pour generously into your pad then suck away!
