Have a Very Merry Christmas!

My family and I are looking forward to having Christmas this year because we will be traveling to my wife’s parents house in Illinois.    There snow usually makes its way around Christmas.  In Texas its doesn’t snow very often so when we get there it will be a real treat!  I will have to teach my little girl how to make snowballs, snowmen and of course show angles for the first time.  We will sled and have all sorts of winter fun!   One of my favorite things to do after playing in the snow is enjoy a cup of hot coco with marshmallows sitting by a worm fire place looking at all the decorations of Christmas!

With all joy and warmth that Christmas brings there is someone special who I always like to acknowledge during the holiday season,  that is my Lord and savior Jesus Christ.   Recently when I went to church I was impacted by a song our worship team performed.  In the lyrics it mentions Jesus who was born in a manger.    I had the thought of God himself coming to earth to be born in a barn with all the smelly animals and hay.  I don’t think it was by accident.   I was humbled at the thought that this is my messiah?  my king?  what king, would want to be introduced to like this?  There is a story I read recently in the bible where it talks about some of Jesus followers who were debating among themselves , “ who will be the greatest in his kingdom”  and soon after this Jesus takes off his robe “representing his royalty”  gets some water and washes the dirty, calloused, smelly feet of all his followers.  It was considered in that day to be one of the lowest jobs.    One of his followers even tried to get him to stop washing, but he persisted.   What amazing me about Jesus is he not only humbled himself in birth and during his lifetime on earth but also humbled himself in his death.  He purposefully laid down his life on a cross for me, naked, beaten, betrayed and much more.  In my heart I am moved, not just because he is king, but because he is a servant and for that I call him Lord!
