Tile can cleaning can be a difficult task.  It usually takes a professional’s high powered equipment, right product and skills to get your tile looking magnificent.     With this in mind I have listed below some great tips to help with your tile cleaning.  Just know when doing tile cleaning your self can be a very long and tedious job.   It would be a good idea to use knee pads if you plan on restoring your grout.

  1. Pencil erasers are gravy! What’s great about pencil erasers is they remove shoe marks most of the time.  Pencils work the best on porcelain tile.  They get those black scuff marks left by shoes.  Its mucho fun!

  1. Lighter fluid is wet and stinky but does the trick! Lighter fluid also works great to help remove shoe marks.  As well lighter fluid can remove dark stains from any tile in your kitchen, bathroom, or hallways.  It is flammable so make sure you’re not smoking on the job!

  1. Vinegar and ammonia also are stinky! These products work great for all the stubborn areas located in bathrooms, sinks or showers.  The can also clean other surfaces like counter tops etc…

  1. Lemon juice can be tasty and sticky: Believe it or not this is a powerful acid that helps to remove excess grime.  Though if you have marble tile do not use lemon juice on it because the powerful acid is too harsh and can damage marble.  Use a natural cleaner on marble.

  1. Limon juice and salt are also yummy: This is great for tile in front of your fire place.  Salt is great for loosening soot created by the smoke.  Great combo for great cleaning results!

  1. Club soda: Club soda is perfect for the grease that buildups from cooking in your kitchen.  Just apply the club soda mixed with water and start scrubbing.   Be sure to let it dwell before scrubbing to allow the fizzing to do a fizzle job!  I also recommend using a brush for the agitation.

  1. Hydrogen peroxide: This is a powerful removal for juice stains, tea stains, coffee stains, blood, urine and nail polish stains.  Sweet beans!

  1. Bleach solution: Great for those dingy porous grout lines.  Be sure to use a brush.  A tooth brush is the perfect size for this.  Though if you use bleach I recommend you do this in a well ventilated area and wear a mask and gloves.

  1. Helpful tip: I also recommend changing your water and cleaning liquids as often as possible when cleaning your tile.  The reason for this is your grout lines will absorb whatever you clean with unless they are properly sealed.  Dirty water will only worsen your situation.
