1. REMOVE THE EXCESS. Grab a utensil and remove the top layer of butter.

2. ABSORB.  Sprinkle a power product like baking soda or cornstarch and allow it to absorb the butter. Allow 20-35 minutes of dwell time. After the time is up then vacuum it up. Repeat this process if necessary.

3. CLEAN. Next, apply a mixture of dishwashing soap and hot water. In most cases this should remove the butter stain. After that rinse well with just water and blot with a towel.

4.DRY CLEAN-SOLVENT. If the stain remains then try using small dry-cleaning solvent with a sponge or rag. Blot with the sponge until you see the stain disappear. Remember to do a hidden test area before you start on the stain. Every carpet reacts different to cleaning products.
