Spin Bonnet Cleaning vs Hot Water Extraction

Most carpet mills highly recommend you have your carpets professionally cleaned every 6 -12 months. The reason for this is it will help prolong the life of your carpet as well as the appearance.  As a customer you might be asking yourself what types of methods are there to choose from? Depends on how quick and thorough you like your carpets cleaned. Below I have listed two forms of carpet cleaning that are the most preferred. One is called is the Spin bonnet cleaning and the other is called hot water extraction.

Spin bonnet cleaning:

Some people prefer spin bonnet cleaning otherwise known as “dry cleaning” because of how quick the carpet dries after the clean is finished.  The way this works is by spraying a detergent or solvent on the top surface of the carpet fibers. Then with an absorbent pad attached to it a rotating machine spins at high RPM to agitate the carpet.  By doing so it then transfers spots and dirt to the bonnet pad. Mutable pads are replaced during the cleaning process. The amount of pads replaced can vary depending on the carpets condition. This method is preferred by customers who are looking for fast for fast dry times. However not this method is not very effective for high traffic areas as well as heavily soiled areas.

Hot Water Extraction:

Also known as “steam cleaning “is the most preferred way to clean carpets by both the customer and carpet mills. Interestingly to note is that eight out of ten carpet manufactures recommend this form of cleaning over the bonnet method.   The reason for this is because of the deep cleaning it provides.   Truck mounted hot water extraction can create heat up to 220-230 degree of hot water with a water force ranging from 400 to 500 psi. This is good for deep penetration removing damaging soils and unwanted spots. Hot water extraction can keep your carpets looking more beautiful and lasting longer.  Another reason hot water is preferred is because of how well it can both sanitize and clean your carpets of almost every unwanted contaminate.

Now you know the two most preferred ways of carpet cleaning. There is a big difference between hot water extraction and spin bonnet cleaning.  You will now have to decide which one works best for you.
