Before reading this blog I would like to inform you about our professional service for dog urine removal and treatment.  At Quality Care Carpet Cleaning we specialize in dog urine removal. How we do this is by saturating your carpet and padding.  The urine is soaked into the padding of your carpet.  We then use a powerful extraction device to remove the urine completely out of your carpet and padding.  Then we apply a microbial treatment designed to kill any remaining bacteria and unwanted smells produced by and from the dog urine.   If you hire a professional to treat the urine problem make sure they address the padding or else it will dry upwards and still gas off its nasty smell.  If ever in the Denton TX area, you need professional urine removal or carpet cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, air duct cleaning or upholstery cleaning you can contact us by phone 940-206-2372 or email [email protected].

Okay your dog just did his business on your beautiful white carpet, now what do you do?  First Start by grabbing some paper towels to soak up the waist right away.  Then lay something heavy on top of the towels helping to absorb as much waist as possible.  You could use your foot to step on the towel to help it soak into it.  Let it saturate for a few minutes.  You may have to replace paper towels when they appear to be soaked.  After you have absorbed most of the moisture then rinse the area with hot water and white distilled vinegar and finish by blotting it up with a paper towel.  It’s important to get the water and vinegar very hot because the heat helps activate the acidity in the vinegar.

After you have completed this process, use a pet odor neutralizer to properly sanitize and clean the area.   I prefer to use a product with enzymes.  Enzymes are a positive bacteria that can eat up your unwanted partials.  To find a good dog urine cleanser, it can be found at your local pet store.

If the urine has been settling for a while a different approach is required.  Try renting an extractor or wet vac.  It will help by forcing water and vinegar through the carpet.  I recommend not using high ph chemicals.  They can cause more problems than solving them.

Also if you have a hard time identifying the spot then try using a black light.  To do this you need to get the area very dark.  Then turn on the black light.  If there is urine in that area you should see a glow.  Don’t be shocked if you see a lot.  These stains are permanent and it possible a previous owners pet could have marked many years ago.  The rule of thumb is after 5-10 the urine smell is no longer active.

It is possible by your best attempts you may not be able to remove the odor or stain issue.   Try contacting your local professional carpet cleaner.  With their equipment and expertise they can more often than not resolve the issue.  If ever in the Denton TX area, you need professional urine removal or carpet cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, air duct cleaning or upholstery cleaning you can contact us by phone 940-206-2372 or email [email protected].
