Misconception #1:  Don’t have your carpet cleaned too often.

Truth:  All carpets in your home should be professionally cleaned at least every 12-18 months. Why?  Your carpet is the biggest filter in your home.  Carpets may trap pollutants like dust mites, pet dander, cockroach allergens, particle pollution, lead, mold spores, pesticides, dirt and dust. Toxic gases in the air can stick to small particles that settle into carpets.  This can not only affect your carpet, but also your health.  When windows remained closed in the winter months, filtration is even greater.  Also, dirt is an abrasive- like sandpaper.  Every time you step on your carpet, you grind dirt into the carpet fibers.  This cutting causes your carpet to wear out faster.  A dirty carpet will not last as long as clean carpet.  Therefore, regular vacuuming and professional carpet cleaning will help remove the pollutants that have built up in your carpet and extend the life of your carpet and improve your health.

In fact, most manufacturers of carpet such as Shaw & Mohawk require hot water extraction every 12 to 18 months to maintain their warranties. For environmental reasons, the EPA recommends that they be cleaned even more often than that.

Quality Care Carpet Cleaning believes that it is important to maintain your carpets.  We also understand that people have very busy lives and can forget to have their carpets professionally cleaned every 12-18 months.  Therefore we send out yearly reminder postcards or can place you on a routine schedule by request.  Let us clean out the biggest filter in your house and make it a clean and healthy environment!

Misconception #2:  All carpet cleaning companies are basically the same, so I should go with the lowest price.

Truth:  Saving money is always a priority for homeowners, which is why many make the mistake of looking for cheap carpet cleaning services instead of a certified, reputable company.  However an unpleasant experience may occur.

  • That LOW advertised or quoted price may not be what you pay.  Many set a very low price so they can get into the door and then begin piling on extra charges- this is called bait and switch.  Examples:  pre-spray for spots and high traffic areas, falsely stating that your carpet is more soiled than others therefore requiring more product and work, overcharge room sizes (saying every room is oversized and doubling the price), charging to remove every spot, or for things that should be included in the clean.
  • Often many low budget cleaners use low end equipment and poor products that can leave your carpets “crunchy” and cause rapid resoiling. In one month’s time your carpets could look like they did before cleaning, and sometimes worse. Also, spots that should have been removed with quality product and equipment can still remain.
  • Many companies use hot water extraction since it is the best cleaning method for carpet (as you will read about further down).  However, during hot water extraction, it is essential that only the minimum amount of water is used (anywhere between 400 and 500 p.s.i.).  Some carpet cleaning technicians like to clean with a higher pressure of water to make their jobs easier and faster.   If too much water is used to clean the carpet, it can make its way to the backing and padding of the carpet.  While the carpets are drying, deep drink spills, spots, dirt, dog urine etc… will appear and dry on the top surface of your carpet.  You will either call them back for a redo or count your loses and choose a more reputable company.

Quality Care Carpet Cleaning believes in doing a quality clean at a reasonable price.  We have no hidden charges.  We always clarify our pricing over the phone before arrival so that our customers clearly understand what they are paying for.  Our cleaning method includes pre-spray and top-of-the-line truck mount, hot-water extraction, and quality products to provide an exceptional clean.  We pride ourselves in doing what’s right for every customer and what is necessary to bring the best results.

Misconception #3 :  All methods of cleaning are equal.

Truth:  Using the best method of cleaning on your carpet is the most important factor on how clean you carpet gets, how healthy your carpet is for your family, and how long your carpet ultimately lasts.

There are two basic methods used to clean carpet.  One is the dry cleaning method which consists of the use of dry powders or foams. This method’s best feature (your carpet never gets wet so it doesn’t need time to dry) is also it’s biggest drawback.  Dry cleaning tends to leave a lot of dirt and residues in your carpet because your carpet is not rinsed in any way.  Imagine washing your dishes with a dry chemical powder and then “rinsing” them by vacuuming.

The best, most effective way of cleaning carpets is hot water extraction.  Most carpet manufacturer’s including the world’s largest manufacturer of carpeting, Shaw Industries, recommends the hot water extraction method as the preferred method of carpet cleaning.  In this method, high pressure is used to force a hot water cleaning solution into your carpet with water jets. This spray is designed to completely rinse the fiber from top to bottom. The hot water is then sucked back out effectively removing dirt and pollutants from your carpet. The main reason this method works better is because the water is heated to a high temperature that easily breaks up the dirt, pollens, pollutants and bacteria in your carpet. The next step involves using high powered suction to extract or remove this grime from every part of your carpet. Hot water extraction performed by trained technicians with a truck mounted unit is like a deep cleaning and massage for your carpet.

Quality Care Carpet Cleaning takes pride in using truck mounted, hot water extraction, and we have invested in one of the best truck mounts on the market called the Sapphire Scientific 370!  This truck mount is popular for its great suction resulting in faster dry times.  Also it is known for its great heat, reaching a total of 280 degrees for superior cleaning results! It can handle even some of the most difficult carpet cleaning imaginable!   With our top-of-the-line equipment, you can trust us to do the very best cleaning for your carpet!

Misconception #5:  Having the right equipment is all that a carpet cleaning company needs to clean your carpet properly.

Truth:  The best carpet cleaning companies are those who are certified by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, known an IICRC.  Cleaning Professionals who are certified by IICRC have, in effect, earned a degree in carpet cleaning.  IICRC is an independent, non-profit certification body. Its mission is “to set and promote high standards and ethics; and to advance communication and technical proficiency within the cleaning, inspection and restoration industries.”  Just remember your carpet is one of the highest investments in your home and you want someone taking care of it who knows what products can clean effectively without damaging your carpet.

Quality Care Carpet Cleaning is IICRC certified. Tim Moore who is the owner and technician, has achieved outstanding IICRC credentials.  He is certified in carpet cleaning, carpet repair, wood cleaning and upholstery cleaning.  We have gone the extra mile to make sure your assets are in good hands.

Misconception #6:  I can do just as good a job with one of those do-it-yourself rental machines.

Truth:  The problem with the machines that you can rent at the local supermarket or hardware store is that they don’t get the water hot enough to truly get your carpet deeply cleaned, and they don’t have the suction power to fully remove the dirt and grime from your carpet.  This leaves dirt and grime behind.  It’s like getting your dishes soapy, then letting them dry without removing all of the food.  A rental machine costs roughly $300. A professional portable machine costs at least $1,200, and most cleaners typically spend nearly $18,000 for a professional truck mount unit. Which of these systems do you think does a better job? The other question to ask yourself is “How much is my time worth?” Do you really want to try and save a few dollars by going out, renting equipment, learning how to use it, doing the actual work, then cleaning up and taking the equipment back, then do it all over again a few months later because you didn’t get the quality clean of a professional cleaner? Let us save you time and money by getting remarkable results every time.
